Before serving in the role of a Surrogate, you will be required to furnish various medical records and undergo various blood tests to insure that you are a viable candidate to serve as a Surrogate.
If the Intended Father's sperm is being used then he must consent to a STD testing and provide a statement of health from your physician. Testing included Hepatitis B and C. A semen analysis and urine drug screen will also be conducted.
If the Intended Mother's eggs will be used , she will be tested for STD's and a urine drug screen will be done as well as a statement from her physician of good health.
Last, the treating physician will review your medical records to determine whether there will be any additional test required.
Why does a woman want to be a surrogate carrier?

One may have had someone close to her that has experienced infertility and wants to give a couple the opportunity to experience the joys of having a child.
